The instrument has a tool (14) including two mouth portions (16) pivotable about a pivot axis relative to a shaft (2). The actuating shaft is movement coupled in a region of the pivot axis of an instrument head (6) arranged in articulated coupling with the pivotable first mouth portion. The actuating shaft is coupled through a universal joint with the pivotable first mouth portion.
