875,136. Gasifying liquid fuel. RUMMEL, R. Dec. 18, 1957 [Dec. 19, 1956], No. 39358/57. Drawings to Specification. Class 55 (2). In a process for gasifying a liquid fuel with gasifying agents containing free oxygen the gas generated after it has given off part of its sensible heat is washed with a portion of the liquid fuel, the portion of the liquid fuel used for washing the gas being subsequently gasified in the process. The gasification may be effected in a circulating bath of molten slag and the gas leaving the slag bath may be carburetted by injecting liquid fuel into the gas thereby absorbing some of the sensible heat of the gas. Alternatively the hot gas, before washing, may be passed through a waste-heat boiler or other heat recovery apparatus to reduce its temperature. In a modification the liquid fuel which has been used for washing the gas produced is distilled to remove absorbed gases before it is gasified. |
