The present invention relates to a composition for preventing or treating dementia comprising an extract of the mealworm (Tenebrio molitor), particularly to a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating dementia and a food composition for preventing or alleviating demensia, comprising the extract of the mealworm as an active ingredient. According to the present invention, the extract of the mealworm inhibits activity of beta-secretase (BACE1) and thus is effectively used to manufacture a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating dementia or a food composition for preventing or alleviating dementia. |
