A system for converting a string of text into Braille and presenting the outcome in an audible format is disclosed. The system comprises a means for receiving or reading a string of text and converting said string into a sequence of Braille characters. Each Braille character is composed of up to six dots 1-6, figure 1, in a grid to create a cell 7. The system assigns each dot a note of distinct pitch, so when a Braille character is subsequently read by the system, the sequence of dots is converted to a series of distinct sounds which are then communicated to the user. The system also allows for audio feedback when entering text from a keyboard using the same system. |
