The device has a detection device (2) including detection units for magnetic, mechanical, optical and/or electronic detection of different fiber rope characteristics e.g. cross-section and diameter. An evaluation device (3) individually evaluates the rope characteristics for recognizing a replacing state of a high-tensile fiber rope. The evaluation device evaluates change of preset distance between signal sensors. An extension arm (23) is joined to a tower (21) around an axle and unbent over a bracing strand (24).
