EPOXY RESIN, EPOXY RESIN COMPOSITION, AND CURED PRODUCT THEREOF

Provided are an epoxy resin that produces a cured product having high heat resistance and an excellent coefficient of water absorption and electrical properties, as well as an epoxy resin composition. The epoxy resin is obtained by glycidylization of a naphthol-cresol novolak-type phenol resin, which is characterized in being obtained by reacting a naphthol and a cresol with an aldehyde such that when the naphthol and cresol are reacted with the aldehyde, the percentage of alpha-naphthol in the naphthol is 1 to 10 wt%. Preferably the ratio of naphthol:cresol when the naphthol and cresol are reacted with the aldehyde is 65:35 to 85:15 and the softening point of the resulting naphthol-cresol novolak-type phenol resin is 100 to 150ºC.
