[Also in Group XXX] A pair of gypsum or other boards B<SP>1</SP>, B<SP>2</SP> to be placed one on top of the other are lifted from conveying rollers 2 by forks 3, 4 geared to pivot together about a shaft 7, 8 to the position shown at 3<SP>1</SP>, 4<SP>1</SP> where the board on fork 4 falls on to the board on fork 3 so that the two are lowered together on to the rollers 2. The drive to the rollers 2 and the forks 3, 4 and the operation of a stop S which stops the board Bi, are controlled by limit switches operated by the forks, by a switch R 1 operated by the board B 1 , and by a switch R 2 which, as the two boards enter the machine from the right in Fig. 1 is unaffected by the first board B 1 but is operated by the second board B 2 . The forks may be swung by a crank connection 11 to a pneumatic cylinder 9 or to an eccentric turned through one revolution to raise and lower forks. Each fork preferably comprises 6 tines joined by members 13 and nesting in gaps between the rollers. When the forks are raised the boards rest on the shoulder 14 on the fork 3 and on a roller r on the fork 4.
