Class 132(3) A doll or other figure of the "walking" type and having a head which is turned when the figure is caused to "walk" has its legs interconnected by a rocking member which causes one leg to swing forwards as the other swings backwards, a shaft for turning the head being connected to the rocking member via means, e.g. a slotted plate, which causes the shaft and the head to turn through a greater angle than the rocking member. As shown, each leg 82 is pivoted on a rod 83 and has an upstanding pin 84 which engages in slots formed in arms of a rocking member 77 and a plate 78. The member 77 is rotatable on the shaft 9 and the plate 78 is fixed to the shaft. Fig. 4 shows angular movement G through which the rocking member 77 rotates compared with the larger angle H moved by the plate 78 for a given leg movement. Since it is the plate 78 which moves the head, a greater turning movement of the head results. The rocking member 77 is necessary to maintain the positions of the leg pins 84 relative to each other. Means for moving the legs and for moving an eye-mechanism by a push-button 64 is described in Specification 826,628. The eyemechanism is described in Specification 826,627. |
