Disclosed herein is a method for providing a token for use in a transaction to a user device, the method comprising a server: obtaining identification data of a secure element, SE, module that comprises an SE of a user device 203; generating a token for use in a transaction; and transmitting the token to the user device 207; wherein the server is remote from the user device; and the token is generated in dependence on the identification data 205. Advantageously, the token is dependent on identification data related to the user device that it was intended for use by, for example the SE module may be a Subscriber Identification Module (SIM) of a mobile phone and the identification data may be the IMEI (International Mobile Station Equipment Identity) or IMSI (International Mobile Subscriber Identity). Security is improved by generating a token that can be easily prevented from being used by any other user device. |
