<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem with a conventional airbag in which a gas is made to flow rapidly into an upper part of the airbag, which is a protection part for an occupant's knee, and it is difficult to balance supply of the gas for the upper part between an intermediate part and the originally targeted upper part, although it is desirable to rapidly increase inner pressure of the intermediate part to a predetermined value when the occupant's knee makes contact with the intermediate part that is lower than the upper part. <P>SOLUTION: A knee airbag device includes the airbag which is inflated and deployed between a mounting surface and a lower limb of the occupant with the gas flowing thereinto, and an inflator 14 which generates the gas. The airbag includes a first separated chamber 6 and a second separated chamber 5 which are defined by a partition wall 3. When the airbag is deployed, the second separated chamber 5, which has higher inner pressure than the first separated chamber 6, is positioned higher than the first separated chamber 6, and the second separated chamber 5 has an extension part at a side in a vehicle width direction of the first separated chamber 6. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
