Class 39(3) An electrode liquid heater for use as a sterilizer, vaporizer, bottle warmer, egg-cooker or the like comprises a vessel of insulating material having a bottom wall with an opening around which there is a downwardly extending tubular extension open at its lower end and having an inwardly extending tubular flange formed about its inner wall, and spaced electrodes carried by an insulating member seated on the upper side of the flange and occupying the interior of the tubular extension. As shown, a bottle sterilizer comprises a vessel 10 formed with a downwardly extending projection 10f closed by a metal plate 12 and having an inner annular flange 10g against which is held in a liquid tight manner an insulating member 18, e.g. of porcelain, carrying spaced lower and upper electrodes 16 and 17 connected to supply conductors 22 and 24. An insulating cap 25, preferably of porcelain, covers the upper electrode 17 and is formed with apertures 25a to permit the escape of steam into a chamber defined by a cover 11. A rack 30 resting on the bottom wall of the vessel 10 supports the bottles to be sterilized. |
