The arrangement has an electrical conductor (7) which is partially introduced into the geological formation. A first conductor portion of the conductor is extended within the underground mining pit tracks (3,4). The other conductor portions of the conductor are formed to apply the electromagnetic field to the conductor portions adjacent to the ground by electromagnetic induction, so that a temperature rise and reduction in the viscosity of the adjacent ground are achieved. An independent claim is included for method for introducing heat into geological formation reservoir for obtaining hydrocarbon-containing substance.
