The exhaust gases after-treatment system (1) has a gas-tight and liquid-tight housing (5) with an inlet (2) and an outlet (3), where gas guide elements are arranged in the housing that encloses chambers (6,6',6''). A catalyst material or a particulate material is present in the chamber. The gas guide elements have turbulence-generating elements. The gas guide elements are formed by parallel walls that divide the exhaust gas into multiple partial streams. The turbulence-generating elements are arranged between the partition walls as flow disruptors, impact points or additional deflectors. The partition walls are made of metal sheets or foils or ceramic elements or combinations of the mentioned materials.
