The present invention relates to a primer, capable of identifying species which pertain to the Branchiostegus family, a method for identifying species of the Branchiostegus family using the same, and a polynucleotide useful in identifying species of the Branchiostegus family. Branchiostegus japonicas and Branchiostegus albus can be identified when a polynucleotide having a pair of nucleotides of SEQ ID NO: 3, 5, or 7 and SEQ ID NO: 4, 6, or 8 is used. Branchiostegus argentatus and Branchiostegus auratus can be identified when a single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) marker of SEQ ID NO: 12 or 13 is used.
