831,389. Testing coins. SUPREME AUTOMATIC VENDING CO. Ltd. Feb. 21, 1958 [Feb 22, 1957], No. 6094/57. Class 27 Coin testing mechanism comprises an insertion slot 2 of a size limiting the maximum dimensions of coins to be inserted, a pair of upwardly convergent spring fingers 12, 13 which will arrest a coin of the correct diameter having a milled edge but will allow an undersize coin or an unmilled coin of correct diameter to pass through to a reject shoot 11 and a weighing lever 48, which, in response to an underweight coin, will tilt only partially and deflect the coin to a reject passage 54 A correct coin held on the spring fingers is moved laterally by pressing a button 43 so that projections 28 and 31 on a lever 24 engage respectively, the coin and a plate 34 mounted on a leaf spring 33 and normally forming part of the wall of a coin shoot 4, so that the coin is brought over and can fall down a shoot 47 into which the weighing lever extends. The projection 28 is conical so that, if the arrested coin is in the form of a washer, it can pass through the central hole A tab 37 on the lever 24 moves over a spring- loaded arm 6 near the coin slot 2 and prevents it from being moved out of the shoot 4 by an inserted coin while the arrested coin is being transferred by the projection 28. A magnet may be provided for deflecting magnetic coins to the passage 54. Clearing coins. Coins held by the spring fingers 12, 13 may be released by pressing a button 22 so that a tab 21 on a lever 18 acts on the spring finger 12 to increase the gap between the fingers.
|
