Provided are a method for coating a plastic or a metallic substrate and a high quality plastic or metallic object obtained thereby. The method includes a step of forming an undercoat layer on a plastic or metallic substrate; a step of forming an optical reflectance adjustment layer, including an aluminum oxide layer and a titanium oxide layer, on the top of the undercoat layer; a step of forming a protective layer, including an aluminum oxide or a silicon carbide, on the top of the optical reflectance adjustment layer; and a step of forming a friction reduction layer, including metal fluoride, on the protective layer. The step of forming an optical reflectance adjustment layer, the step of forming a protective layer, and the step of forming a friction reduction layer are carried out by a continuous vapor deposition process in the same chamber, at a pressure lower than the atmospheric pressure. By the method, process time required for the mass production of a plastic or metallic object used for a mobile phone case such as a smartphone case is remarkably shortened, thereby improving product quality and production yield significantly. |
