Producing olefins by catalytic dehydration of alcohol or alcohol mixtures, comprises compressing a feed stream, which contains a water-alcohol mixture of at least one alcohol and water, at a pressure between 25-80 bars; evaporating the compressed feed stream to a temperature of 250-600[deg] C and superheating; feeding the compressed and superheated reactant stream to a first isothermal reactor, in which the feed stream is convertedby catalytic dehydration to form an intermediate product stream; and guiding the intermediate product stream into at least one additional reactor.
