Class 37 Semiconductor rectifier elements are screwed into cooling blocks which are stacked together on an insulating bolt, cooling discs which protrude beyond cooling the blocks and insulating discs as necessary being interposed between the blocks. As shown an air cooled rectifier device suitable for use as a full wave three phase rectifier, with elements used in pairs comprises semi-conductor elements 1 screwed into copper cooling blocks 2 which are threaded on an insulating bolt 5 and separated by aluminium cooling discs 3. An organic adhesive may be used between the cooling blocks and the cooling discs to improve thermal contact. Insulating layers 4 inserted between the cooling discs electrically separate the units. In a further embodiment Fig. 4 (not shown), more than one rectifier element is screwed into each cooling block.</p> |
