A method for magnesiothermic producing of sponge zirconium includes supplying of zirconium tetrachloride powder from the feed hopper to the evaporator, heating thereof to a temperature above the evaporation temperature, zirconium tetrachloride steam supply through a heated vapor line to the apparatus of reduction on the molten magnesium, the reduction of zirconium tetrachloride with producing of a block of sponge zirconium. Before the supplying of zirconium tetrachloride powder from the feed hopper to the evaporator it is compacted it in an inert medium into pellets or tablets with the size of 3- with a pressure not less than 150 MPa, and it is supplied into the evaporator by gravity at a controlled rate. |
