The present invention relates to a cathode active material for a lithium secondary battery, a manufacturing method thereof, and a lithium secondary battery using the same, and more specifically, to a cathode active material for a lithium secondary battery which comprises a lithium metal oxide represented by chemical formula 1, has a high degree of crystallinity by understanding the relationship between the full width at half maximum of the lithium metal oxide and the performance of the battery, and is able to improve the capacity and the rate capability of a lithium secondary battery; a manufacturing method thereof; and a lithium secondary battery using the same. In chemical formula 1, a is 1.17<=a<=1.33; x,y and z are 0<x<1, 0<y<1, and 0<z<1; and a+x+y+z=2. |
