580,774. Making cased valves. TECALEMIT, Ltd., and LE CLAIR, C. C. S. June 8, 1944, No. 11026. [Class 83 (ii)] [Also in Group XXIX] A method of making valve members or valve seats having a substantially rigid mounting or backing with a facing of deformable or flexible material comprises cutting or punching the required shape of valve member from a compound sheet of the material. The mounting material may be metallic or plastic sheets, which may be perforated, or rigid wire mesh and the facing material may be synthetic or natural rubber, a suitable plastic, felt, or cloth or fabric treated to render it impervious to fluids. Fig. 1 shows a disc valve formed by this method comprising a rigid disc 6 with a deformable facing 7 for co-operating with a seat 5. A larger disc may be cut and the outer annular portion of the facing material removed to leave a central seating portion, the outer part of the rigid disc then being cupped to form a guide. In Fig. 6, an annular ring of the compound material is cut to form a valve seat, the outer portion of the facings 31 being removed. In Fig. 4, a double-acting valve disc with a facing on either side' for co-operating with seatings 22, 23 controlling the inlet 12 to two outlets is shown, the rigid mounting being perforated.
