1. A hub unit comprising an electric machine adapted for driving a wheel, comprising
at least a first planetary gear coupled in series with a secondary planetary gear between the electric machine and a wheel hub; and a gear shifting device from connecting and disconnecting, through the gear shifting device, a planet carrier of the first planetary gear to a drive shaft connected to the second planetary gear, wherein a ring gear of first planetary gear is rigidly connected to a stationary casing, wherein the hub unit comprises a gear shifting device for connecting and disconnecting, respectively, a drive shaft of the electric machine to the drive shaft, which is connected to the second planetary gear, wherein the gear shifting device comprises two clutches, which are adapted for selectively rotationally connecting, individually, either one or the other of the planet carrier and the drive shaft of the electric machine to the drive shaft of the second planetary gear.
