METHOD FOR CONTINUOUS CASTING METALS AND ALLOYS

A method for continuous casting metals and alloys includes feeding molten metal into a reservoir. Then an inoculator is introduced as a powder with a chemical composition similar to the composition of the cast metal into a jet of melt flowing from the reservoir in a stream of neutral gas, forming an ingot or a billet drawing. The inoculator in the form of powder of fraction 100-1000 microns is introduced in the amount of 0.05-0.65% by weight of the molten metal in the melt stream in the flow of neutral gas with a flow rate of the latter of 1.2-13.8 l/ton of molten metal.
