An apparatus for controlling a session in a wireless terminal to receive a message from a push server, according to the present invention includes the following: a checking unit which checks the first battery consumption amount, which is the amount of a battery consumed by a message check application installed in the wireless terminal, and a second battery consumption amount, which is the amount of battery consumed by other applications except the message check application; a calculating unit which calculates a battery consumption rate, which is the rate of battery consumed by the message check application compared with other applications, using the first and second battery consumption amounts; and a processing unit which determines whether the battery consumption rate is greater than a previously set reference value, and when it is determined that the battery consumption rate is greater than the reference value, sets the keep-alive time of the wireless terminal longer than a current setting value. |
