METHOD FOR ARC FURNACE OPERATION

The invention proposes a method for arc furnace (1) operation, according to which the arc furnace comprises a tank (2) for melt material (3), as well as at least one electrode (4), the said electrode (4) is located on a support bar (5) and is hold by thereof; herein, a component C is loaded the tank (2) for foaming slag formation for making on the melt material surface a layer of the foaming slag having a height (h). To improve determination of foaming slug height determination and optimization supplying component for formation of foaming slag the method comprises the following stages: a) determination: frequency (f) or acceleration (a) of electrode (4) oscillations or the support bar (5) and height (h) of the foaming slag layer (6). b) basing on the obtained measurement using functional dependence h= f (a) obtained at a) stage a height (h) of the foaming slug is calculated. The method provides reliability growth of arc furnace operation.
