METHOD OF ADJUSTING TRACK RECORDING DENSITY AND MAGNETIC DISK DRIVE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent high read error rate due to a small rise in flotation during writing.SOLUTION: A method of adjusting track recording density is applied to a magnetic disk drive having one or more disks provided with two or more recording surfaces and two or more heads corresponding to the two or more recording surfaces, respectively. The method obtains first error sensitivity dependent on flotation representing a change in read error rate corresponding to a change in the flotation height of the head during writing for each of the two or more heads. When the first error sensitivity dependent on flotation is a second error sensitivity dependent on flotation which is higher than a threshold value and corresponds to a first head among the two or more heads, the method decreases the track recording density of a first recording surface corresponding to the first head.
