PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method that enables radioactive cesium to be easily and efficiently removed from waste contaminated by the radioactive cesium.SOLUTION: In a radioactive cesium removing method including a heating step of heating the waste contaminated by the radioactive cesium, a CaO source and/or a MgO source, chloride, a POsource and/or a NaO source at 1250 to 1450°C, and vaporizing the radioactive cesium in the waste, in the heating step, the radioactive cesium removing method sets so that each mass of CaO, MgO and SiOsatisfies (CaO+1.39×MgO)/SiO=1.4 to 3.0, a molar ratio (Cl/(Cs+K)) of the chloride, the cesium and potassium satisfies 0.6 to 2.0, and as a ratio in a resultant calcined object 100 mass%, a ratio of POis more that 0.3 mass%, or a ratio of NaO is more than 1.0 mass%, and a ratio of the NaO is less than 5.0 mass%. |
