An embodiment of the present invention relates to a terminal capable of editing a document that contains pictures or texts more easily and a control method thereof. The control method comprises the steps of: receiving an input of a first gesture indicating at least a partial area of a document displayed on a terminal; receiving an input of a second gesture corresponding to a specific function; and performing the specific function for contents included in the partial area in the document.
