<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge lamp-lighting device and a headlamp using the same, in which an overcurrent is less likely to be flowed in a circuit at an abnormal time of a short circuit and the like.SOLUTION: When an output voltage or an output current to a high-pressure discharge lamp LP1 measured by a measurement part 3 is in an abnormal range, a controller 4 reduces a power to be supplied to the high-pressure discharge lamp LP1. A drive part 2a driving switching elements Q2-Q5 comprises a capacitor supplying required electric charge to control electrodes of the switching elements Q2 and Q3 for the purpose of turning on the high potential side switching elements Q2 and Q3 when the low potential side switching elements Q4 and Q5 are in an off state. In this discharge lamp lighting device, the charging of the capacitor is started before a DC/DC converter 1 starts its operation at initiation of the high-pressure discharge lamp LP1, and a determination time period in which the controller 4 determines presence or absence of abnormalities from a measurement value of the measurement part 3 in a state that the DC/DC converter 1 and a DC/AC inverter 2 are operated after completion of the charging of the capacitor is provided.</p> |
