<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electromagnetic accelerator capable of launching more than three armatures together without showing any speed difference so as to eliminate a problem of generating speed difference under influence of more increased acceleration force of an armature at a middle stage rail gun than that of the armatures of upper and lower stage rail guns.SOLUTION: Three or more rail guns (15) comprised of a pair of conductive rails (3,5) arranged parallel to each other and an armature (4) loaded in an acceleration space between these conductive rails are equally spaced apart in an annular manner and arranged to cause that the pair of conductive rails (3,5) of each of the rail guns (15) may be set in a radial manner. Each of the rail guns (15) is connected in series by a connector wire (6) in such a manner that currents of same direction may flow in the conductive rail (3) outside each of the rail guns (15), and then electricity is supplied to the series-connected circuit from a pulse power supply (1) and a switch (2). With this arrangement, since a strength of magnetic field line of each of the rail guns (15) becomes same to each other, more than three armatures (4) can be launched together without any speed difference. Further, since the magnetic field lines generated by the respective rail guns (15) strengthen each other, the armatures (4) can be efficiently launched.</p> |
