PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve quality of a cast product by preventing air from being entrained into a stalk at mold opening.SOLUTION: A casting apparatus includes first gas supply means, second gas supply means, and a control device. The first gas supply means supplies first gas to a closed space in a compression chamber. The second gas supply means supplies second gas to the vicinity of the top of a stalk of a cavity through a valve mechanism. The control device controls the first and the second gas supply means so that the first gas is introduced into the compression chamber and the second gas is introduced to the vicinity of the top of the stalk of the cavity before performing mold opening operation of a mold and the surface of molten metal in the stalk is lowered to the surface level of molten metal in the compression chamber while gradually reducing the pressures of the first and the second gases. |
