PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of detecting data bit depth capable of automatically determining a data bit depth without a separate option pin, and to provide a display device.SOLUTION: A method of detecting data bit depth includes an interface transmitting terminal embedded in a host system and an interface receiving terminal embedded in a timing controller. After confirming a physical connection between the transmitting terminal and the receiving terminal, the interface transmitting terminal transmits, to the interface receiving terminal, input data of a CDR (Clock Data Recovery) training pattern signal, an alignment training pattern signal, and display data in this order. The interface receiving terminal generates a clock using a built-in CDR circuit to which the CDR training pattern signal is inputted, and counts bits of pixel data included in the alignment training pattern signal or the clock and determines a data bit depth of the input data on the basis of the counting result. |
