For a lighting device for improving brightness and a backlight unit comprising the same, the present invention provides the lighting device and the backlight unit comprising the same, including a body portion containing a metal having a first surface with a mounting surface; an insulating layer enveloping at least a portion of the body portion in order to expose at least a portion of the first surface; an electrode layer disposed on the insulating layer and including a first electrode layer and a second electrode layer which are extended up to the mounting surface; and a flip-chip type light emitting element disposed on the mounting surface to directly contact with the first electrode layer and the second electrode layer.
