PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce generation of an image defect, in an image forming apparatus in which a power supply for primary transfer and secondary transfer is made common.SOLUTION: In an image forming apparatus in which superimposed current of a current flowing from a secondary transfer roller 20 to an intermediate transfer belt 10 and a current flowing from a conductive brush 16 and a conductive roller 17 to the intermediate transfer belt 10 flows in a primary transfer nip part, when an image is not formed, a conductive brush high-voltage power supply 60 applies a voltage to the conductive brush 16, so as to electrify toner remaining after the secondary transfer, recovered to the conductive brush 16 to a polarity reverse to a normal polarity and a secondary transfer high-voltage power supply 21 applies the voltage having the polarity reverse to that of the voltage applied in the primary transfer to the secondary transfer roller, so that the superimposed current flowing in the primary transfer nip part has the polarity reverse to that of the current flowing in the primary transfer nip part in the primary transfer. |
