PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cancel a release restriction state without forcing a special operation to a crew member in an opening and closing device of a slide door for a vehicle.SOLUTION: An opening and closing device of a slide door for a vehicle comprises a release cancellation mechanism which can be switched to a connection state for connecting release operation force transmission means so as to transmit power of electric release means to a ratchet, and a disconnection state for disconnecting the release operation force transmission means. When the ratchet is at a release restriction state of being restricted to a release position by the electric release means, the release restriction state is cancelled by transmitting oscillation to a door side bracket 82 in a process that a rail side bracket 81 moves at a bent part SR1 of a guide rail SR to the release cancellation mechanism and switching the release cancellation mechanism to the disconnection state.
