Treating algae comprises (a) diffusing the algae to be treated in water, (b) filtering a pulp recovered from the step (a), (c) ultrafiltration of the pressing juice, (d) demineralizing the ultrafiltration retentate and decanting the demineralized retentate, or decanting the ultrafiltration retentate and demineralizing the product obtained from decantation, and (e) recovering the vegetable protein present in the algae in one part and sulfated polysaccharide present in the algae in another part. Treating algae comprises (a) diffusing the algae to be treated in water, (b) filtering a pulp recovered from the step (a) to obtain a pressing juice in one part and a pressing pulp in another part, (c) ultrafiltration of the pressing juice to obtain a retentate in one part and a permeate in another part, (d) demineralizing the ultrafiltration retentate and decanting the demineralized retentate, or decanting the ultrafiltration retentate and demineralizing the product obtained from decantation, and (e) recovering the vegetable protein present in the algae in one part and sulfated polysaccharide present in the algae in another part.
