<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of polishing an electrode tip which enables determination of abnormal polishing at times other than on maximum torque generation.SOLUTION: A tip dresser 18 polishing a pair of electrode tips held in a welding gun comprises a holder holding a cutter capable of cutting the tip part of the pair of the electrode tips, a servo motor device 36 having a servo motor 37 as a driving source for rotating the holder in such a way as to cut the pair of the electrode tips and a servo amplifier 39 controlling the rotation of the servo motor and a controller 50 controlling the operation of the servo motor device. The servo motor device 36 outputs torque generation signals to the controller 50 when a torque of an intermediate value in load torque is generated during normal polishing of the pair of the electrode tips. The controller 50 determines abnormal polishing when torque generation signals are not input at a time corresponding to the lapsed time of normal polishing.</p> |
