The system (10) has a first covering (20) i.e. instrument panel, and a second covering i.e. center console, connected to each other through an alignment element. An alignment section aligns the alignment element on the first covering. A fastening section is attached to the first covering and a mounting portion for aligning and mounting the second covering. The aligning section is provided with alignment surfaces (22a, 22b) that are formed in the first covering for alignment in three directions of a coordinate system, where the alignment element is made from stiff plastic and stiff metal.
