PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter material for an air filter and an air filter that keeps high insect repellent effect even under high air flow and after being submerged.SOLUTION: The filter material for an air filter comprises a micro capsule containing a chemical compound, which is selected from a derivative, a cinnamaldehyde derivative and a cinnamyl alcohol derivative, adhered to a fiber sheet through binder resin, and an air filter uses the filter material.
