The invention relates to a mixing device (1) for mixing a mixable material, in particular a medical cement, said device comprising at least one cartridge (2) and a closure piece (8), wherein the at least one cartridge contains a first component of the mixable material and comprises a cartridge head (4) in which at least one air opening is arranged, and the closure piece (8) is arranged on the cartridge head (4) in such a way that the at least one air opening in the cartridge head (4) can be closed and opened by the closure piece (8), wherein the closure piece (8) is mounted so as to be rotatable or slideable relative to the cartridge head (4), and a connection (26) extends through the cartridge head (4) or a cartridge wall into the interior of the cartridge (2) and connects the interior of the cartridge (2) to a container (30) for a second component of the mixable material.
