PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alkali metal cell which has high reliability and stability.SOLUTION: The alkali metal cell comprises: a substrate in which an opening penetrating from one surface to the other surface is formed; a first transparent substrate bonded to the other surface of the substrate; and a second transparent substrate bonded to the one surface of the substrate. In the opening of the substrate, an alkali metal is sealed in a space surrounded by the first transparent substrate and the second transparent substrate. The substrate and the second transparent substrate are bonded together by a first bonding metal layer formed of a first bonding metal and a second bonding metal layer formed of a second bonding metal to seal the space. The second bonding metal has a higher melting temperature than the first bonding metal. With this configuration, the above problem is solved.
