<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sliding door opening and closing device that holds a sliding door in an open state only for short seconds so as to allow a handicapped user to pass through a doorway at ease.SOLUTION: A sliding door opening and closing device is provided with a mechanical stopper mechanism 8 which stops and holds a manually openable/closable sliding door 1 at an arbitrary position in opening/closing directions, and includes detection means of detecting the sliding door 1 being opened to the predetermined position to be detected, a timer which operates upon receiving an electric signal from the detection means and sends a stopper releasing electric signal a predetermined short time later, and electric releasing means of operating upon receiving the electric signal from the timer and releasing the door from being stopped and held by the mechanical stopper mechanism 8.</p> |
