PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device for a vehicle capable of allowing a driver to intuitively and easily recognize the present situation of a self vehicle by appropriately displaying an image indicating the self vehicle.SOLUTION: An overhead image in the circumference of a vehicle 1 is generated by using images to be captured by four cameras 11-14. The generated overhead image is synthesized with the image of the vehicle 1 so as to be displayed in a display unit 17. The generation of a self vehicle image and synthesis with an overhead image are performed to thereby change the position and posture of a vehicle 1 or display contents in an overhead image in accordance with an action (pitching and rolling), a travel state (acceleration or deceleration), and a lighting state of taillights 21R, 21L in the vehicle 1. A driver can intuitively and easily recognize the present situation of a self vehicle together with a situation in the circumference of a road where the vehicle is traveling. |
