SEMIPERMEABLE MEMBRANE SUPPORT AND METHOD OF PRODUCING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semipermeable membrane support which has high thickness uniformity of a semipermeable membrane, causes no breakage or wrinkling of the membrane or strike-through of the semipermeable membrane solution in applying a semipermeable membrane solution and shows high adhesion between the semipermeable membrane and the semipermeable membrane support and high adhesion between non-applied surfaces.SOLUTION: A method of producing a semipermeable membrane support is based on hot pressing processing of a sheet comprising a main fiber consisting of a synthetic fiber and a binder fiber, and the hot pressing processing includes a step in which the sheet passes through a heat roll nip composed of a combination of a metal roll and an elastic roll or a combination of a metal roll and a metal roll, and at least one metal roll of the combination is heated. Before the sheet passes through the heat roll nip, the sheet is brought into contact with the heated metal roll and passes through the heat roll nip as it is without separation of the sheet from the metal roll.
