PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a rare earth magnet, in which no cracking is caused in a compact, and orientation disturbance by shear friction force acting from a punch or the like during lateral deformation of the compact is not caused, when manufacturing the rare earth magnet forming an orientation magnet by applying hot plastic processing to the compact.SOLUTION: This method is composed of a first step for manufacturing a compact S, and a second step for manufacturing a rare earth magnet C forming an orientation magnet by preparing a plastic processing die 10 comprising a dice 1 and a punch 2, housing the compact S in the cavity Ca thereof, and applying hot plastic processing to the compact, and the second step is composed of steps A, B.
