The present invention relates to a monitoring system for a pass line roll. The monitoring system for a pass line roll includes: a plate velocity sensor for detecting and outputting the plate velocity, which is the moving rate of a plate; and a rotation sensor for detecting the rotation of a shaft for rotating the pass line roll, and for outputting a rotation signal. The peripheral velocity of the pass line roll can be calculated by using the rotation signal and a roll slip rate, a degree of skidding of the pass line roll about the plate, can be calculated by using both the plate velocity and the peripheral velocity. When the roll slip rate is bigger than a reference value, a warning message is output.
