<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coated nickel hydroxide powder which secures uniformity and adhesion of the coating and is suitable for a positive electrode active material of an alkaline secondary battery, when forming the coating having cobalt oxyhydroxide as a main component thereof on surfaces of nickel-hydroxide-powder particles.SOLUTION: In a coated nickel hydroxide powder for a positive electrode active material of an alkaline secondary battery, surfaces of nickel-hydroxide-powder particles are coated with a cobalt compound having, as a main component thereof, cobalt oxyhydroxide or a mixture of cobalt oxyhydroxide and cobalt hydroxide. The valence of cobalt in the coating is 2.5 or more, and the amount of peeling of the coating when 20 g of the coated nickel hydroxide powder is shaken for one hour in a sealed container is 20 mass% or less based on total amount of the coating.</p> |
