1. A method of expressing an Oct4 protein in a cell, the method comprising
(i) contacting a cell with a compound having the formula: wherein, X1 is C(R12) or N; X2 is C(R4) or N; X3 is C(R5) or N; R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6, R7, R8, R9, R10, R11 and R12 are independently selected from hydrogen, halogen, —CN, —NO2, —NH2, —CF3, —CCl3, —OH, —SH, —SO3H, —C(O)OH, —C(O)NH2, substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, substituted or unsubstituted heteroalkyl, substituted or unsubstituted cycloalkyl, substituted or unsubstituted heterocycloalkyl, substituted or unsubstituted aryl or substituted or unsubstituted heteroaryl, wherein R2 and R3 are optionally joined to form a substituted or unsubstituted heterocycloalkyl or substituted or unsubstituted heteroaryl; and (ii) after step (i), allowing said cell to express an Oct4 protein.
