An alternate viewpoint image generating device (100) comprises: alternate viewpoint image generating units (101, 102) which generate, from two or more images which are respectively acquired in two or more viewpoint locations, one alternate viewpoint image each, which are images corresponding to images which are acquired in virtual viewpoint locations, and wherein hole regions, which are regions whereof pixel values are missing, are included; a hole density computation unit (103) which, for each unit of processing in each of the generated two or more viewpoint images, computes a hole density, which is a proportion of hole regions occupying a prescribed region which includes the unit of processing; a compositing ratio computation unit (104) which, on the basis of the sizes of each of the hole densities of the two or more alternate viewpoint images, computes, for each unit of processing, a compositing ratio of each of the two or more alternate viewpoint images; and an alternate viewpoint image compositing unit (106) which composites the two or more alternate viewpoint images on the basis of the computed compositing ratios. |
