The present invention provides novel perfluoropolyether modified polysilazane which is useful as a surface treatment agent having high reactivity and excellent water and oil repellency, surface lubricity, and contaminant washability, a method for producing the same, a surface treatment agent containing the polysilazane, and an article treated through the surface treatment agent. The perfluoropolyether modified polysilazane includes only a silazane unit represented by Chemical Formula (1). (In Formula, Q is a bivalent organic group; p and q are integers of 1 or more; r and s are independently integers of 0 or more; each of repeating units can be randomly bonded; and x is an integer of 1 to 3.).
